    Your favorite takeout...

We are in the middle of remodeling, and DH ripped out the kitchen on Friday. With two preschoolers, it's been fun.

But I'm more or less of the hook for cooking.

So I can see that my few takeout standbys - Thai, pizza, etc. are going to get repetitive after a while. What's your favorite? Anything you do to make it stretch?

What would you do for dinner if you're limited to a microwave and a crockpot, knowing that any dishes will have to be done in the bathroom?

    Favorite take-out:

    Indian
    Thai
Chinese (and they deliver, too! )
    Wings
    Subs
    Pizza

Usually we get enough for dinner one night and a lunch the next day for at least a couple people.

What would you do for dinner if you're limited to a microwave and a crockpot, knowing that any dishes will have to be done in the bathroom?
Buy paper plates and bowls and make a lot of rice or noodles-cooked-in-sauce crockpot dishes.

There's a place by me called Simply Dinners but I know there are places like it in other places. You can either assemble the entrees yourself or pay a bit more to get them assembled. You do something like 6 entrees at a time so you'd need to have room in your freezer and make sure you could heat it all up in the microwave but that might give you a break from the normal take out dishes. Also, hit Costco or Sam's delis for stuff - they usually have pretty decent stuff. And use paper plates.

Hm, I like Chipotle's lol I've tried something similar to Simply Dinners in my area and I wasn't too impressed, but if I had no kitchen I might be impressed.

I don't love the quality of Simply Dinners either, as a part of my normal routine. But, it's more varied than the regular takeout standby's.

I did figure out the paper plate thing, but I'm still using utensils. Can't bring myself to spork it long-term. I have a rice cooker, too, so that's helpful..

I've done that - stocked up right before I had my second baby, but all the stuff was packaged in foil baking pans and was supposed to go in the oven. I'll try Costco, I've never really looked at their ready-made stuff.

We still have the BBQ, too.

For a special treat I really like Pizza Hut, but it's expensive so our back up is Swiss Chalet. For a really special treat we get Fish and Chips

I'll occasionally buy broasted chicken, potato wedges, that sort of thing from the grocery store. They sell a lot of hot foods, actually. Roasted chicken, meatloaf, fish, mashed potatoes, hot veggies.

If you want to try out the crockpot, I believe they make disposable plastic bag inserts which might help with clean up. I can't imagine trying to soak a crock in the bathroom sink. Course the thought of using a plastic insert to cook in skeeves me out personally, but I'm sure it's safe otherwise they'd not have it on the market.

I'd cook in the crockpot, because I do that several times/week anyway.

Yeah, the grocery store has pretty decent hot foods like stuffed peppers and chicken. I could do that a couple of times.

    And chinese takeout.

I get tired of eating out really fast, though.

Do you have a laundry sink? I'd wash dishes in that instead of the bathtub.

No, I would totally be using that instead if I had one.
