Texans were already hard-pressed to find good construction workers as the industry struggled to hire skilled laborers — a problem that’s only going to get worse after Harvey’s rains stop.

Texas builders were having trouble filling openings before Harvey made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane Friday, according to a new survey by the Associated General Contractors of America. The problem will grow more pressing as homeowners and businesses start rebuilding in the wake of the storm, which dropped roughly 50 inches of rain on Houston alone.

The trade group said Texas is specifically in short supply of concrete workers, electricians, cement masons, carpenters, plumbers and installers of all kinds, including drywall.
