It's kind of foggy, but is supposed to clear up. I hope he decides to pour the rest of the driveway this morning, because if he waits for a dry afternoon, it's going to be a while. I think that the bottom half is supposed to be a lot less labor intensive, though. I am eager to start clearing up the disaster that is my front yard right now. We won't talk about the state of the front porch, though.

Meanwhile, it's going to be a great day at school - it's the first day of yoga! My favorite! And then someone is coming from the public library to show us how to use the online resources for research, so I'll stick around for that, then run a couple of errands and then come home and cook dinner.

Which will be... chicken and mashed potatoes.

I had a lovely evening with the folks who came to phone bank last night, and talked to quite a few people who didn't know there were municipal elections this fall! Unfortunately, one of the women left a little early and the front door didn't close all the way, so we had a gnat problem to deal with before bed. I made a couple of fly traps which caught a bunch of the buggers, and there was no sign of a living gnat this morning, so hopefully that's that.

I called in sick again today. I feel really bad since there's only one person in the department now - but I'm really not well enough to go in. At bed time last night my fever was 39.2 - so no one will want me around. I haven't checked it yet today and I don't feel feverish but based on the amount I've already cried this morning I think it's probably still lurking . I'll binge watch Murder She Wrote again - and no dicking around today - this time I'm just going hit "play all"

Waiting with my son at the school bus stop, glad it's only a couple of houses down from ours.

I licked my finger to wipe some stuff off my son's face and now I feel gross
Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize them.

Tpatt, at least keep a kleenex in your pocket so you can lick that instead I always have a kleenex or two hanging around (but then I have bad hay fever, so my nose is always leaking )

I needed groceries (not storm prep, just regular groceries), so I went this morning before DH left for work. I got there at 7:23 AM - they open at 7 - and it was already Saturday-busy. I passed two gas stations on the way there - one had crazy lines, and the other was out of gas.

And that's with the projections having shifted east again, though we're still in the cone.

Sorry for all the hurricane-related posts. It's just where my brain is right now. We've been trying to prepare the girls for the possibility of our leaving town, talking about what we'd bring with us, etc., and they seemed to be doing okay with it, but they're having some amount of anxiety over it. I mean, I am too. But they are little and sometimes what they understand is more than their emotions can manage.

Don't apologize, mmeblue! Everyone in my office has been talking about Irma all day and we are not in the target zone at all! This is a scary one!

Life may not be the party we hoped for...but while we are here, we might as well dance!

I agree! Don't apologize. The video of Irma out of Sint Maarten/St Martin are incredible. We were just there in March and it makes me so sad when I think about all the wonderful locals we met. I'm really hoping that you guys aren't impacted! Keep us updated.
