Are these the birds that lay an egg in someone else's nest and then when it hatches, it kicks all the other babies out of the nest?

We have a couple of blue jays that come around. They are very pretty but man oh man can they be assholes.

My dad must've been a cowbird.

There's a pair of cardinals in our neighbourhood, and they've come to our feeder a few times recently. I love them. And yesterday there was a Baltimore oriole in our maple tree!
I saw this year's first Baltimore oriole at the hummingbird feeder (they share ), and about 5 minutes later I saw the first orchard oriole. I was pretty excited!

They can do that, but from what I have read a brown headed cowbird baby pretty much never survives in a house finch nest. I know if I remove the egg the cowbird could return to the nest and destroy the finch eggs, and nest, mafia style.

Seems they survive by dominating the resources the host birds bring for their offspring. The mama cowbird times it so her baby hatches first. If the host does not reject the foreigner they tend to get 50% of the food the host birds bring to the nest and that can starve out the host babies. It's sad and fascinating no matter what happens. Only time will tell. I think we have about a week until the eggs hatch.

The mama Finch was in the nest with the impostor when I went out to water the baskets today. We shall see where this goes...

This didn't take nearly as long as that damn giraffe did.
