Trump Gave Classified Info To Russians During White House Visit

President Trump revealed "highly classified information" to two top Russian officials during a controversial Oval Office meeting last week, according to a report from The Washington Post.

The Post, citing current and former U.S. officials, reported Monday evening that the information relayed by the president to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak "jeopardized a critical source of intelligence" on ISIS:

"The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said Trump's decision to do so endangers cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump's meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and the National Security Agency.
" 'This is code-word information,' said a U.S. official familiar with the matter, using terminology that refers to one of the highest classification levels used by American spy agencies. Trump 'revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies.' "

Trump also reportedly boasted to the Russians about the intelligence he was receiving, telling the two men, "I get great intel. I have people brief me on great intel every day":

"Trump went on to discuss aspects of the threat that the United States learned only through the espionage capabilities of a key partner. He did not reveal the specific intelligence-gathering method, but he described how the Islamic State was pursuing elements of a specific plot and how much harm such an attack could cause under varying circumstances. Most alarmingly, officials said, Trump revealed the city in the Islamic State's territory where the U.S. intelligence partner detected the threat.
"The Washington Post is withholding most plot details, including the name of the city, at the urging of officials who warned that revealing them would jeopardize important intelligence capabilities."

Greg Miller, one of The Post reporters who broke the story, told NPR's Ari Shapiro on All Things Considered that by sharing the information from another country, it could damage future intelligence gathering and U.S. relations with other partners.
"This is not intelligence that the United States gathered or owned. It wasn't up to the United States to share, and so doing so really jeopardizes that relationship. It potentially damages trust that's critical in these kinds of arrangements. And I think that's one of the really big worries here," Miller told NPR. "And in this case it's important, because this is apparently an ongoing stream of intelligence into Islamic State plotting. I mean, what could be more important?"

BuzzFeed also confirmed The Post's report, with one U.S. official saying that the disclosures from the president to the Russians were "far worse than what has already been reported."

The New York Times also noted that "Trump's disclosure does not appear to have been illegal — the president has the power to declassify almost anything. But sharing the information without the express permission of the ally who provided it represented a major breach of espionage etiquette and could jeopardize a crucial intelligence-sharing relationship."

Israeli officials warned not to share intelligence with White House

Move follows reports that Trump revealed classified information to Russia

Israeli intelligence officials have been warned by their American counterparts not to share information with the Trump administration, according to media reports.
Suggestions that the US president revealed to Russia highly classified information about an operation to deal with Islamic State have caused ripples of unease in the Israeli intelligence community.
American officials implied during a closed meeting with Israel that shared information could be leaked to Russia and then onward to Iran, Yediot Ahronot reported.
Concerns that the Kremlin has influence over Donald Trump are based on longstanding suspicions of reported ties between Putin and his American counterpart.
Israel has previously shared details of its clandestine methods of operation and intelligence sources with America.
According to Yediot, the officials hinted that Israel should “be careful” about transferring intelligence information to the White House and the National Security Council (NSC) until the true relationship between Washington and Moscow is ascertained.

So, it's not treason because he's the President and he can declassify anything he wants to...?
The founding fathers had no idea that someone so incredibly incapable would ever be elected....

Everyone who was actually there denies it. All we have is some "unnamed source" for a liberal news outlet making vague claims. What exactly was leaked?

Trump says he has 'absolute right' to share facts with Russians

U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday defended having disclosed information to senior Russian officials last week, saying he had an "absolute right" to do so and had shared facts to get Moscow to step up its fight against the Islamic State militant group.

The president took to Twitter to counter a torrent of criticism, including from his fellow Republicans, after reports that during a White House meeting he had revealed highly classified information about a planned Islamic State operation.

Yes, he does have that right. That isn't evidence that he shared anything that wasn't already public knowledge.

yes, he has the right and apparently he can declassify anything he likes.

As of this point, there is no evidence about what he actually "leaked"

What Did Donald Trump Tell the Russians?

A Washington Post story claims that the president divulged highly sensitive intelligence received from an ally in a meeting with the Russian foreign minister and ambassador.

Last Wednesday, security experts nearly had a conniption when they realized that President Trump had welcomed Russian state media into the Oval Office. It turns out that was the least of the security breaches that day.
The Washington Post reports that Trump revealed classified information about ISIS, acquired from an intelligence partner, about a plot to use laptop computers in terror attacks. The newspaper held back details of what Trump told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak.

Other outlets, including The New York Times and BuzzFeed, have confirmed the Post story.

The White House did not deny the disclosure, though National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster said that “at no time were any intelligence sources or methods discussed and no military operations were disclosed that were not already known publicly.”

Dina Powell, a deputy national-security adviser, did deny it, however. “This story is false. The president only discussed the common threats that both countries faced, she said, according to CNBC’s Eamon Javers.

Later, McMaster read a brief statement to reporters at the White House.

There’s nothing that the president takes more seriously than the security of the American people. The story that came out tonight, as reported, is false. The president and the foreign minister reviewed a range of common threats to our two countries, including threats to civil aviation. At no time, at no time, were intelligence sources or methods discussed, and the president did not disclose any military operations that were not already publicly known. Two other senior officials who were present, including the secretary of state, remember the meeting the same way and have said so. Their on the record accounts should outweigh the anonymous sources. I was in the room. It didn’t happen.

McMaster’s statement does not specifically take issue with anything in the Post story, or other accounts confirming it. No reports have alleged that Trump discussed sources or methods, nor that unknown military operations were discussed.

Trump Gave Classified Info To Russians During White House Visit

So Trump himself defended something that he did that is his right and Israel doesn't want to share anything with us because he's a moron who didn't discuss this with the people involved with the information he shared
Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize them.

The film also quotes other sources in the US intelligence community who accuse Israel of disrupting a joint covert operation to sabotage computers used in Iran’s nuclear program by acting rashly and in opposition to agreed-upon plans. As a result, hundreds of millions of dollars that were invested in the operation went to waste.
