Everyone? Not quite. But if Russia and one of Trump's advisers say it didn't happen, I totally believe them over unnamed U.S. sources.

As per usual, his staff went into damage control, and then Trump tweeted the exact opposite contradicting the official response. Weird that you're still drinking the koolaid.

There is an established process for declassifying information. It's not supposed to be done on the fly.

I just read this FB comment and it made me laugh:

News report: President Donald Trump today was seen taking a dump on a table at a local Starbucks.
    Conservative: That's a fake story.
WH Official: President Trump did not take a dump on a table at a local Starbucks.
Donald Trump: I took a dump on a table at Starbucks.
Conservative: Technically, anywhere the President takes a dump is a toilet.

    WaPo: The president shat himself.
White House: The president would never shit himself.
Trump: I SHAT MYSELF ON PURPOSE

The American Jews who voted for him here are very, very quiet on FB. Not even defensive, not blaming it on Obama and Clinton, but very, very quiet.

    That's not true:

"The minute the president speaks about it to someone, he has the ability to declassify anything at any time without any process."
Does the president have 'the ability to declassify anything at any time'?

"The President, after all, is the ‘Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States’" according to Article II of the Constitution, the court’s majority wrote. "His authority to classify and control access to information bearing on national security ... flows primarily from this constitutional investment of power in the President, and exists quite apart from any explicit congressional grant."
Steven Aftergood, director of the Federation of American Scientists Project on Government Secrecy, said that such authority gives the president the authority to "classify and declassify at will."

Whether or not he *should* is a different debate. But he does have the authority to declassify any information, at any time. No process.

FM didn't say he didn't have the authority. She said exactly what you said, that it shouldn't be done on the fly. Just blatting things because you can is wholly irresponsible.

There may be for other people in the government, but it is different for POTUS. I certainly read what FM wrote to mean that Trump broke the rules.
