I posted something in a money management group. A client is also apparently in this giant group. I sent her an email wishing her well, but letting her know it's an ethics violation. But its worsened by my DH putting photos of DD on public and tagging me so I had him change that.
Squicked out and sad I felt like I should leave a group I liked.

    What is an ethics violation?

Yeah, I don't understand why you had to leave the group?

    Psa time

To be friends with a client within 3 years of treatment violates a code of conduct.

I just left the group because I'd probably comment on something again. It's a big group. I didn't even think about being seen by a client. I should have.

ETA: I like FB to be relatively private and only things you can find out through googling me are visible. That's my goal at least.

I feel like this is a separate discussion from your OP

Did you send an old therapist a friend request?

No, a former client sent one to me.

No it isn't . She posted something in a large group that one of her ex-therapy clients is also a member of. Ex-client immediately sent her a friend request - which she declined because that would be weird and squidgy (and an ethics violation) and then left the group because she felt uncomfortable knowing ex-client was also in the group and would see stuff that she posted.

I totally get it. When our local zoo lost a lion a few months ago I posted a picture I had taken the last time we'd been and for whatever reason it was the top post - one of my coworkers "liked" my picture - not realizing it was me because I was under a different name. But it made me feel weird . And now that I'm on FB essentially under my real name I no longer feel comfortable posting on Zoo posts - because I know she follows them too . And that's not nearly as weird as an ex therapy client

Ah, I thought of that after I posted my question. Makes sense. Sorry it makes you sad.

What's the money management group? I dig stuff like that :)
Life may not be the party we hoped for...but while we are here, we might as well dance!
