Guess where 80% of the meth supply comes from.

America’s Heroin Epidemic Starts in Mexico

Here they've really pulled back on prescription opioids, cracking down on the pill mill doctors, etc and all prescriptions (not just narcotics) are now electronic and tracked by the state to look for drug seekers who would get multiples.

So now of course it's a freakin mess with the heroin and people here don't seem to understand why their white middle class neighbors are suddenly overdosing on street drugs. Young people they get, but it's like they think 50 year olds are suddenly running out and getting addicted to heroin because they're having a midlife crisis. It's amazing how strong that impulse to just condemn people is, or ignorance, or a bit of both. At any rate, there's an overdose clinic put on by the district every few months, and they give out Narcan kits. It's completely out of hand.

Cutting off supply sounds great, and it would help in stemming the tide of new addictions, but you would see more active violence over a dwindling supply. Part of the solution is preventing new addictions, and that's great, but you can't leave the currently addicted swinging in the wind and expect there to be no repercussions.

That hasn't turned up on our streets yet, but public health departments and police forces are already sounding the alarms about it.

It's here, showed up last year. Brutal stuff is in the wrong hands. Haven't heard much about it lately, maybe people got freaked out about people dying on it.
