No, that's one reason it took me so long to figure out how best to go forward finishing my undergraduate degree. I was loathe to take classes in things I was already doing professionally. Except for my math class, I essentially need(ed) 4 semesters in my major field, any major field. I chose education because it made the most sense for my goals and my current skills. I hunted and searched for, no joke, YEARS, for a school that would give me actual credit by testing, portfolio, or other methods for all these things I know how to do. For instance, I enjoyed my Educational Technology class and my Multicultural Education class. But not only was there nothing new for me in those classes, I actually teach workshops in both those things at the state level to library staff, both paras and librarians. Many schools will give you credit for the basics, but I couldn't find one with a fully online program that would give me credit for my professional skills.

I ended up at GCU thinking they would do that, but it turned out that there was a miscommunication between me and my counselor and sure, they would let me test out of history, English, poli sci etc, but nothing in my major field. That was a rough 48 hours when I realized what had happened. I was accepted, I was ready to start, but I had 68 hours ahead of me instead of the expected 40ish. M and I talked it over and decided I just couldn't wait any longer. They also said I could take 2 courses at once, but turned out that was only after taking 3 courses one at a time and making a 3.5 GPA. I have a 4.0, so that wasn't a problem. It just made everything take longer.

Ah rats. Degree completion is so complicated. It's hard when you're trying to make the puzzle fit.

This is fabulous! I can't imagine how challenging it's been to blend work, home, dogs and 8 university courses all at the same time. Bravo!
