Yes. Stuffing is more gooey. I prefer dressing. I don't even stuff my bird because the possibility of making everyone get food poisoning.

Dressing is the best part of Thanksgiving. I love my mom's recipe.

Cook up some pork sausage and set aside and drain.

Saute onions and celery in butter

Boil a chicken with onions, celery, and poultry seasoning. Reserve the broth, chunk up the chicken.

Mix white bread cubes that are well dried with the sausage, the celery and onions, add chicken pieces and mix in broth. Salt and pepper and poultry seasoning. Mix in raw eggs as well. Adjust the amount of broth to make the dressing more moist if you want.

    Bake and voila! Pure deliciousness!

We always call it stuffing whether it is in the bird or not. I used to always do a stuffed bird and a pan on the side but now I make stuffing balls and both sides of our family love it that way so I do 9x13 pans of stuffing balls. I make it with white bread, cornbread, onions, celery, lots of butter, seasonings and a mixture of liquid from boiling the neck with chicken stock and garlic. Scoop with ice cream scoop and make rows in a well buttered pan and then brush each scoop with more butter so each one gets crunchy on the outside but stays soft and moist inside. It makes for easy serving as well (usually 2 scoops per person).

But I do miss fighting with my Aunt Judy over the crunchy pieces of stuffing on the outside of a stuffed turkey. Those pieces on the outside soaked from the basting and turkey juice and the pieces that fall out do help make yummy gravy.

I would die, if I had to eat oyster stuffing! Blargh!!
I make my stuffing in a bundt pan, looks pretty lots of crispy edging, and you can slice it like a cake!

I don't really have a recipe, it's half corn bread half herbed bread cubes, I toss in apples and onion and celery, sometimes some sausage.

We call it stuffing, but we don't put it in the bird. It's baked in a casserole dish. My MIL makes horrible horrible stuffing. My recipe is yummy. Mine has:

    Sourdough bread, cubed
    Bacon, baked and crumbled
    Onions, carmelized in butter
    Celery (optional)
    Mushrooms (optional)
    Fresh sage and thyme
    Cream, chicken stock and egg
We're getting away with it all messed up

That's what I think, too. I don't want it out of a bird either, so I always get dressing. Everyone in my family has always called it dressing and they don't put it in the bird.
