    I actually know a guy whose wife was murdered in their home. One of his former girlfriends was a college roommate of mine, and after it happened, she got a call from the police asking questions whether they'd ever had any problems and whether he'd ever been violent. He wasn't, and he was eventually ruled out as a suspect. The killer was caught and convicted.

    Usually you are murdered by somebody you are related to so when there is actually no connection it's common not to believe it.
    Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize them.

    Yeah, I know it does happen. I mean, look at Polly Klaas. Abducted and murdered by a complete stranger from her home in the middle of a sleepover. Fortunately, that's not common which is why it's not the first thing people think of when they hear of a killing like this.
