I would be pissed about the non discussion over a purchase that large, and I'd flat out call him an idiot for the no helmet thing.

    vroom! vroom!

I can't imagine either not discussing that large of a purchase nor buying a motorcycle. In college a friend lost a leg from an accident. I've also driven those roads that Junebug mentioned many times on Sunday mornings going to hikes. Many motor bikers and pedal bikers are totally reckless.

B owns a motorcycle, and wears complete protective gear. If for some reason he stopped wearing gear and the helmet in particular I'd be very worried about his mental health and health in general.

Like above I'd make sure his life insurance and disability policies were up to date as well.

This hits home for me on two levels. My first husband died in a m/c accident, so dh knows this is a non-negotiable thing for me. And my ex-dh took my bonus money and bought a corvette against my wishes. So now I keep my finances separate from anyone else's.

So I'm fine with him purchasing something without consulting me, as long as it's not a motorcycle. It's his money.

My response would be to get a very hefty life insurance policy on him.
