Arias declines to address jury, closing statement on penalty phase begin today!
Arias, who faces the death penalty for murdering Travis Alexander at his Phoenix-area home, told the judge she wanted to speak to jurors, in a trial phase known as allocution, but only in a closed courtroom without the public and media present.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Sherry Stephens, though, said the Arizona Court of Appeals already has ruled the proceedings cannot be conducted in secret.
This is the part I didn't realize...
If this jury cannot decide, Stephens will sentence Arias to life in prison, or life with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
Heck, no. This crazy woman does not need to EVER be on the streets again. I'm thinking the judge will give her life, but the fact that the judge has the option of letting her out, even if it's not for 25 more years, is scary!!

If you are found guilty how can the options be execution or possibility of parole?
At this point just give her life and get it over with. I can't believe this is still dragging out :gg
There's no way Judge Stephens will give her possibility of parole. I won't be surprised if the jury comes back deadlocked again or life imprisonment. In fact, I'll be surprised if they give her the death penalty.
I'm thinking the judge will give her life, as well, but it bugs me that she has the option of giving her parole after 25 years. She's not that old. She never needs to be out of jail. Ever.
I want to see it!!
Has any of this trial been made available to watch?
I think once the verdict is in they can broadcast, but I don't know if anyone will. HLN will likely show clips, like they are for the American Sniper trial, which also couldn't be live streamed, I believe. I believe they are also allowed to livestream the Arias verdict.
VERDICT IN -- WILL BE READ AT 9:30A, MST.
that's 11:30 EST
Is this live somewhere? I just got back from a meeting!!
